NSCZ consulting Kambwili over filling vacant positions at AGM
THE National Sports Council of Zambia says it is consulting the Ministry of Sports over the possibility of filling two vacant positions for board members at the November 27 annual general meeting scheduled for Lusaka’s Government Complex.
In an interview, acting general secretary Innocent Chalabesa said depending on the outcome of consultations with sports minister, Chishimba Kambwili, the council would make a decision on the way forward.
“We have got two vacancies from two board members. One was due to a bereavement concerning Ian Mbewe, the other was a resignation by an athlete, who asked that she is given time to do other things because she is also coaching. Those positions obviously need to be filled but there is a process that needs to be followed,” he said. “The chairman will obviously confirm with the ministry because we need to inform them that we want to have those positions filled. The process of filling positions is not that easy; you need to find people who are going to be committed to those positions.”
And Chalabesa said the council had done everything to ensure that the gathering proceeds as scheduled on November 27.
“We are hoping that the minister will still be available and that is the date that we had to confirm with him. We did our own budget and we have secured Government Complex,” said Chalabesa.
