NSCZ cancels CFZ AGM
THE National Sports Council of Zambia has cancelled the Chess Federation of Zambia annual general meeting scheduled for tomorrow at Lusaka’s Olympic Youth Development Centre due to unaudited accounts.
In an interview yesterday, NSCZ acting general secretary, Innocent Chalabesa, explained that the council wanted to address issues regarding unaudited accounts and constitutional flaws with the CFZ top leadership before allowing them to go ahead with the meeting. Chalabesa added that the council would meet the CFZ executive committee members during the course of the week to chart the way forward.
“We have decided that the AGM be postponed because there are a lot of issues that need to be resolved. There are issues to do with unaudited accounts and the constitution that we want to address when we meet them,” he said. Chalabesa said the council could not allow the meeting to proceed because that would create a lot of problems in future. “Supposing the executive committee members are replaced with others, what will happen to these problems?
We will only decide the date for the AGM after we resolve all these things,” said Chalabesa.
